Northwest postpones in-person classes

MARYVILLE, Mo. - With the World Heath Organization officially declaring the coronavirus as a pandemic many organizations around the country are enacting plans to try to stop the spread of virus including here in our own backyard.

Northwest President Dr. John Jasinski informed students and employees, through email, that in-person classes at its Maryville and Northwest-Kansas City locations in will be postponed till Monday, March 23 to protect the health and safety of the campus community.

Students are on spring break this week, but the campus remains open and operational for students who choose or need to return to campus. University staff will return to work as scheduled to receive further instructions on the postponement to classes.

The Horace Mann Laboratory School and the Phyllis and Richard Leet Center for Children and Families, located on the Northwest campus, also will open as usual for its students next week.

At this time, there are no confirmed coronavirus cases at the Northwest campus. The University has activated a webpage with additional information and resources about its response to the coronavirus at www.nwmissouri.edu/alert/coronavirus
